SUN SAFETY

As a centre we are committed to sun protection and are proudly an approved Cancer Council SunSmart NSW Centre. We promote and encourage all children and educators to protect their skin in five ways when the UV is 3 and above, as recommended by the Cancer Council. Sun protection is incorporated into our learning programs giving children a greater understanding of why sun safety is important and how to implement effective sun protection. Sun protection information, policy, procedures and resources are accessible and communicated regularly to families, educators and visitors.

AIR QUALITY

Air Quality Index

We monitor the Daily Air Quality Index for Sydney, from the NSW Government Planning Industry and Environment website. This is to ensure we are following recommended advice before engaging in outdoor experiences, for the health and safety of all children and educators at the service.

Daily Pollen Index

At Gymea Pre-Kindergarten we monitor the Daily Pollen Index for Sydney, from the Weatherzone website. This is to ensure we are following recommended advice before engaging in outdoor play, for the health and safety of all children and educators at the service.

Fire Danger Ratings

Our educators monitor the daily Fire Danger Ratings for Sydney, from the NSW Rural Fire Service website. This is to ensure we are monitoring the risk of local bush fires starting and following recommended advice to ensure health and safety of all children and educators at the service.
